This kombucha with spicy turmeric flavour is a slightly effervescent fermented drink based on green tea.

Like all kombuchas, the brewing process starts with tea leaves, water and sugar. To the brewed mixture, the manufacturer then adds a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts (SCOBY). To grow good bacterial colonies, the SCOBY (or ‘the mother’) eats the sugar from the tea. Kombucha is definitely not a source of sugar.

The fermentation process converts the polyphenols in the tea into organic acids, among other things, giving the drink a slightly sour flavour. Another by-product is carbon dioxide, which gives kombucha its distinctive fizzy property.

Use kombucha with turmeric

Pour the kombucha into a glass and leave for a while. Be sure not to shake the bottle! You can get rid of excess carbonation by rolling the kombucha in your glass for a while. Drink 100-150 ml of kombucha twice a day to reap the benefits. Your body will need some getting used to the fermented particles first. Not suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
